Under Lithium Skies exposes a dynamic reminiscent of colonial exploitation. The United States offshores environmental devastation and delegates worker exploitation to China and South America in order to obtain mined resources for battery, wind and solar components. The vast disparity between the amount of material we use for energy consumption in this country versus the amount we produce from our own environment is an uncomfortable fact. We avoid political conflict between traditional environmentalists and climate change activists by transferring harm elsewhere, yet there’s only one earth and a person is a person anywhere.
